PAUL
CIARAMITARO

d. 2022

PAUL CIARAMITARO was a lifelong resident of Cape Ann and began his
love of art as a child. Over the years, he was influenced by the
Renaissance artists as well as Aldro Hibbard, Emile Gruppe, and especially
Charles Movalli. In the 1970’s, Paul became a student of Movalli’s and was
deeply inspired by him. He told Ciaramitaro “If you learn something from
every painting you do, you will become an artist”. In between his grueling
hours as a commercial fisherman and dockworker, Ciaramitaro sketched
and painted in his spare time and worked hard to glean all that he could
from his mentors. His commitment and talent led him to become a
well-established and accomplished Cape Ann artist. His paintings have won many awards and his work can be found in both private and corporate collections, as well as in prestigious galleries and museums such as the Cape Ann Museum. Over the past several decades, Ciaramitaro taught numerous classes and workshops which have been widely attended, and he served as a juror for many exhibitions. He was a juried artist member of both the North Shore Arts Association and The Rockport Art Association & Museum. When asked about being an artist Ciaramitaro said, “I’m serious about it. I’m passionate about it and I love it!”
